If you can’t read it from my potato pic, it says ‘Manual Shift Training’ on the side of that Sonic (which just so happened to be stalling at that stop sign).

If it is, I’m missing a potential revenue stream...

Doesn’t sound like a bad idea really. Want to learn stick but your friends don’t want to let you rip up their clutch or the dealers don’t want you doing the same with their brand new one.

Just looked it up. It’s $240 for 2 hours.

Pfft. They had it for free at the Ford Ecoboost Challenge this weekend. Called it ShiftPhobia, and you did it in a Focus (if you needed it, I did not).

Two sessions and I’ve paid for a new clutch... If I’m not a horrible teacher (which I’m not) I should be able to get at least 50 sessions before I actually need a new clutch...

I considered putting a sign in my rear window when I first got the Camaro to stop people from getting so goddamn close while I was still getting used to that clutch, but it would have probably consumed all my rear visibility.

A lot of car salesmen will try to teach you if they feel it’ll seal the deal.

There’s a driver training company in Seattle (“Defensive Driving School”) that offers stick-shift training. The driver gets a regular set of three pedals, and there’s a second clutch pedal in the passenger’s (instructor’s) footwell. I don’t know what kind of car they use, but I assume it’s a Civic or Insight, since I’ve seen those cars in the company’s paint scheme. And, frankly, I’m thinking of signing up for a session since my friends and relatives have historically been unwilling or unable to show me the ropes.

Clutches don’t break so often. MY instructors Peugeot 206 had over 220k km and it was on its 4th clutch, which is less then in normal circumstances, but still pretty impressive.

I have too, I was thinking as a business I wouldn’t do it. Teaching a friend occasionally ya, sure

Well, yeah, that’s why I said “someone”, and not “the general public”... I can’t imagine the company is terribly profitable.
